Fortune Teller
04:42
|
|||
The sign on the street said I should visit Ms. Rosie
She could tell me what I need to know
Arrow pointed up to a second floor window
The one with the lights turned down low
Neon flickered off of red velvet curtains
And a crystal ball there all aglow
For just five dollars I could have me a fortune
And a place to duck out of the snow
So I walked up the stairs, proceeded to knock on the door
And I called out, "Hey...is there anyone home?"
Right then a pretty young gypsy with a henna tattoo on her hand
She said, "I'd tell you, but you already know who I am..."
Yeah, right then that pretty young gypsy with a henna tattoo on her hand
She said, "You got some questions, I understand.
I might have the answers; I'll help if I can."
She led me to a hand-carved table, the likes of which I'd never seen
Struck a match and lit herself a number of candles
Placed them all around the floor by my feet
She went to the window and she closed tight those curtains
Sat down and looked me dead in the eye
And after what seemed like an eternity, asked me
The question caught me quite by surprise
She said, "How does it feel to be out there all on your own?
I know you might think so, but you're not alone..."
Right then that pretty young gypsy
Came and kissed me smack dab on my lips
She said, "You want some advice, I can give you a tip..."
Right then that pretty young gypsy
Came and kissed me smack dab on my lips
She said, "Life is for living, you can put down your script.
You're already home...no point in wasting a trip."
"Like a fool you've been running 'round this world
Searching everywhere for your salvation
But it will come to you - it will find you when it's time
There's no need to hide
Foolish pride aside and dare to dream beyond your imagination
Then you can fly away
Fly away"
(Then she took me)
Just when that pretty young gypsy
Came and kissed me smack dab on my lips
She said, "Life is for living, you can put down your script.
You're already home...no point in wasting a trip.
'Cuz man, you've been tripping."

Grace

She didn't think that it looked too hard
While she was learning to fly
They say it's usually human error
When you fall right out of the sky
And she remembered how quiet it was
Up there above all the noise
She wasn't ready to let it all go
But she just didn't have any choice
Oh Grace I think I really need you now
Oh Grace I pray that you might show me how
Send me sign that
Everything is exactly as it should be
He wasn't sure how much time he had
But he was ready to burn
The lessons never came easy to him
So he just didn't bother to learn
And he remembers how nice it all was
Before it all turned to rust
He wasn't ready to give it all up
But there was no one left he could trust
Oh Grace I think I really need you now
Oh Grace I pray that you might show me how
Send me sign that
Everything is exactly as it should be
Oh Grace I think I really need you now
Oh Grace I pray that you might show me how
Send me sign that
Everything is exactly as it should be

Guardian Angel
03:19
|
|||
She got a crooked little halo
And a couple of broken wings
But I love the way she dances
Man, I love the way she swings
When I ask her where'd she come from
She just whispers "Don't you see?"
Those big brown eyes
I recognize them staring back at me
When I
I go Away
She's right there with me
Right by my side
When I
I go astray
She's no stranger
She's my guardian angel
And she just smiles
Sometimes she reveals herself
Through the numbers on the clock
Sometimes she's the key
Sometimes she's the lock
When I ask her if she's with me
She says "Darlin' can't you see?"
Those big brown eyes
I recognize who's staring back at me
I
I'm not afraid
She ain't ever gonna let me fall
The promise that she made
"Every prayer you say - I hear them all."
When I
I go Away
She's right there with me
Right by my side
When I
I go astray
She's no stranger
She's my guardian angel
But she can't fly
I'm not sure why

Let It Go
04:26
|
|||
That alcohol you're drinking
Won't stop the overthinking
You feel your spirit sinking
It's time to let it go
The weight that's on your shoulders
Perhaps it's time you told her
You're looking so much older
It's time to let it go
Breathe in
Breathe out
Let it go
Breathe in
Breathe out
Let it go
It's late you should be sleeping
Instead you lie there weeping
That secret that you're keeping
It's time to let it go
You set the truth on fire
You're not a real good liar
And you'll never get much higher
Until you let it go
Breathe in
Breathe out
Let it go
Breathe in
Breathe out
Let it go
It never leaves it's always there
It's all around you everywhere
Yours alone and that's not fair
It's time to let it go
Take a leap of faith into
The thing you know you have to do
Then happiness may comfort you
Once you let it go
Breathe in
Breathe out
Let it go
Breathe in
Breathe out
Let it go

Where Did You Go
03:33
|
|||
Don't make me wait
I can't take it anymore
It's not too late
Could you help me off the floor
And why don't you smile
You don't do that anymore
It's been a while
That you've been staring at that door
I swear that I just saw you here
In this room
Or somewhere near
I'd give anything to have you
Be with me tonight
Where'd you go?
I don't know
I don't know
There's a place
Where you go inside your mind
Another space
You're somewhere lost in time
Does it hurt?
Am I keeping you awake
Why the tears?
Is it more than you can take
I swear that I just saw you here
You were in my head
Or somewhere near
I'd give anything to have you
Be with me tonight
But where did you go?
I just don't know
I don't know
Tell me
Is there any way
That you can hear me
When I say...
I love you and I don't want to be alone again tonight
I need all of you to be with all of me tonight
I swear that I just saw you here
You were in my heart
Or somewhere near
I will give anything
To be with you tonight
Where'd you go?
I don't know
Where did you go?
Where'd you go?
Oh
I don't know

Monterey
03:42
|
|||
I look down at my reflection
On the surface of the water
And I don't know what to make of it
Time just comes and goes
But it's underneath the mirror
Where my darkest secrets linger
And I don't know what to make of it
That place nobody knows
The things we do, the things we say
The lies we tell, the price we pay
The battles waged, the games we play
The chances we let slip away
Make up who I am today
And the road leads back
To Monterey
The things we do, the things we say
The lies we tell, the price we pay
The battles waged, the games we play
The chances we let slip away
All part of who I am today
And the road leads back to Monterey
A summer day
In Monterey
Go on dive a little deeper
And see what you might find there
You can make what you want to make of it
Everything will be alright
On the bottom they lie scattered
All those tales you thought were true
And you don't know what to make of it
After all, they're part of you
The things we do, the things we say
The lies we tell, the price we pay
The battles waged, the games we play
The chances we let slip away
Make up who I am today
And the road leads back
To Monterey
The things we do, the things we say
The lies we tell, the price we pay
The battles waged, the games we play
The chances we let slip away
All part of who I am today
And the road leads back
Please take me back
To Monterey

One Last Dance
03:35
|
|||
Looks like we've come to the end of the evening
I can't barely walk and double I'm seeing
But you've got me standing here believing
I actually have a chance
For one last dance
Let's go over there to the corner
I think I should give you fair warning
I'd like to see you in the morning
So please don't say you have to go
And leave me here alone
I wanna dance
One last dance
With you
I just wanna dance
One last dance
With you
Yeah I'm starting to feel a little dizzy
He's not saying it's time to leave, is he?
Say, why don't I buy you another whiskey? No?
You think that'd be a little too risky? Mm...
I wanna dance
One last dance
With you
I just wanna dance
One last dance
With you
Hold me close don't ever let me go
Darling can't you see I need you so
Tonight
Tonight

Rebel Boy
03:35
|
|||
His mama adored him
His daddy just ignored him
But that weren't gonna stop no rebel boy
And he knows he needs to see it through
Got his bible to tell him what to do
But the devil's got him missing now
Most the time
He needs to find himself
A little peace of mind
Man, he wishes it was great again
Just like it was way back when
But there's always something there
To keep you hanging on the line
So he smokes his stuff
And he drinks his wine
And gets high
Just in the nick of time
To go look for something
He just cannot seem to find
He's been a'lookin for
A little peace of mind
I think I know what he went through
When I was young, Lord I felt it too
But I just sing the blues now
Most the time
His mama adored him
His daddy just ignored him
But that weren't gonna stop no rebel boy
